HOW SHOULD IQF (INDIVIDUALLY QUICK FROZEN) PRAWNS BE HANDLED?

IQF PRAWNS SHOULD BE KEPT FROZEN UNTIL READY TO COOK. THEY SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO THAW AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. THEY SHOULD BE PLACED IN COLD TAP WATER AND ALLOWED TO THAW NO LONGER THAN 10 MINUTES. REMOVE IMMEDIATELY FROM THE WATER AND PLACE IN A STRAINER OR COLLANDER. – PLACE ICE OVER THE PRAWN AND MAKE SURE MELT WATER IS ALLOWED TO DRAIN OUT. THEY SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO SIT IN WATER AT ANY TIME, EXCEPT DURING THE THAWING PROCESS. THE RULE OF THUMB HERE IS TO KEEP THEM AS COLD AS POSSIBLE UNTIL READY TO COOK!

HOW DO I COOK FRESHWATER PRAWNS?

NC FRESHWATER PRAWNS CAN BE BOILED, BROILED, FRIED, STEAMED, SAUTEED, OR STEWED. THE TRUTH IS, PRAWNS ARE VERY DIVERSE AND CAN BE COOKED JUST ABOUT ANY WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO COOK THEM. THEY CAN EASILY BE INCORPORATED INTO MOST RECIPES.
